Chemotype analysis: cannabinoid extraction, purification and identification
To map the therapeutic properties of our genetic varieties we aim to identify and characterize all active substances in each variety.
First the active ingredients have to be extracted. We aim to explore various extraction techniques to isolate and enrich various groups of chemical compounds.
To identify every active substance we will use various methods such as High Performance Liquid Chromatography or Nuclear Magnetic Resonance spectroscopy.
Once identified, we will purify each compound with methods such as preparative chromatography.
Purified compounds will then be used for preclinical research and clinical trials.
With our Cannabinoid Potency testing technique, which examines 15 cannabinoids, clients can get a full, comprehensive profile of hemp or hemp-derived product. On Agilent HPLC instruments, we conduct potency testing with verified techniques and a lab setup in compliance with EU Good Laboratory Practices (GLP). All matrices in the hemp supply chain, from biomass to concentrates to finished goods, can be tested by us.
Assessing raw plant material quality standards: pesticides and microbiology
A complete analysis of plants do not only concern their chemical profile, but also includes external agents such as pesticides (etoxazole, boscalid…) and microbes (salmonella, E coli…).
These factors may influence the quality of the final product and will therefore be routinely tracked and quantified for each batch.
The development of analytical methodologies to assess pesticides and microbiology is a major priority of our biochemical lab.
